FinnU women’s hockey loses

ASHLAND, Wis. — The Finlandia University women’s hockey team (3-6-1 NCHA, 3-13-1) lost 6-1 to Northland College (3-6-1 NCHA, 5-11-1), Sunday afternoon at the Civic Center.

The Lions had several shots that were kept out by great plays from Northland goalie Maggie Cusey in the second period. The Lumberjills scored once in the second and two minutes into the third to effectively seal the game.

Senior Sierra Meiners scored off a pass from freshman Kylee Dyni. Meiners becomes the fourth player to score 30 career goals. Sophomore Annah Smiddy had 42 saves.

Finlandia remains on the road Friday, taking on Concordia (Wis.). The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
