Houghton mercies Negaunee 9-0

HOUGHTON — Houghton scored seven goals in the first period on the way to a 9-0 victory over Negaunee Thursday in Houghton.

The Gremlins were led by Dawson McKay with four goals. Bradley Gauthier, Tucker Tapani, Patrick Donnelly, Avery Markham and Taavi Rajala each added a goal of their own.

Houghton had 55 shots on goal while limiting Negaunee to just three. The game was called after the second period due to the mercy rule.

Next up Houghton (10-6-1) travels to Trenton for the MIHL Hockey Showcase on Feb. 2.
