Gremlins win WestPAC girls meet
HOUGHTON — Houghton’s Kaaren Liston carded a 39 on the front nine and then held off Hancock’s Payton Dube on the back nine to earn medalist honors by topping Dube by just one stroke in the Jack Sandretto Invitational at the Portage Lake Golf Course Tuesday.
Liston’s 83 was two strokes better than teammate Ellie Helman’s 85 as the Gremlins posted four girls in the top eight and won the team competition with a combined score of 369, 63 better than second-place Ontonagon.
Elle Colombe (93) and Katie Bershing joined their Gremlins’ teammates to earn the meet victory.
