Senior leaders: Lakes name top senior athletes

Student athletes Aaron Hainault and Laura Lyons were named as the recipients of the Outstanding Male and Female Athlete Awards respectively at a recent ceremony held at Lake Linden-Hubbell High School.

Hainault is the son of Steve and Sue Hainault.

During his high school career he was a member of the football, hockey, basketball, and track teams.

He earned 10 varsity letters while receiving all-conference honors in football and earning all-state honors in Track. He will also represent our football program in the UP All-Star game. Hainault plans on studying criminal justice at either Finlandia or Northern Michigan.

Lyons is the daughter of Tim Lyons and Bonnie Hafeman.

During her high school career she was a member of the basketball, volleyball, track and softball teams.

She earned 15 varsity letters while gaining all-conference honors in volleyball 3 years and was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the Copper Mountain Conference.

She was both Copper Mountain Conference MVP twice in track and earned All-State honors at the U.P. finals, she was also all-conference in both basketball and softball.

Lyons is the valedictorian and plans on attending Michigan Tech to study biomedical engineering.
