Jets get good night from Frahm, top Hawks

REPUBLIC — The Jeffers Jets boys basketball had a successful trip to Republic Wednesday as the Jets downed the Republic-Michigamme Hawks, 66-53.

Jets coach Trent Keteri was pleased to see the continued development of Isaiah Frahm, who put up a season-high 17 points while also drawing tough defensive assignments.

“Isaiah Frahm played great defense and put the ball through the hoop,” Keteri said. “He’s been assigned to cover the best player on defense for the past couple of games and has worked hard.

“It was good to see him be rewarded on the offensive end tonight.”

Christian Hocking continued his strong season 22 points and good post play.

The Jets scored just 24 points in the first half, but Keteri was pleased to see that the team continued to push through and was rewarded for their efforts in the second half.

“The game was a rough, slow start,” he said. “We didn’t have the energy we needed right away.

“Finally in the late third quarter, Austin Kinnunen and Frahm really stepped up on the the defensive end, and that got our team going. Those two found that extra hop of energy and that’s what we needed to create some space. With our full court pressure, and a huge transition dunk by Hocking, our team got really fired up and finished out the fourth (hard).”
