Dump truck crash kills driver

WAKEFIELD — An unidentified truck driver died in an accident Friday in Ontonagon County.

The Michigan State Police Wakefield Post responded to a fatal crash about 11:30 a.m. Friday west of Agate Falls on M-28.

Sgt. Brett Marshall said more details — including the name of the driver — may be released later Monday.

Marshall confirmed the unidentified driver was eastbound when his loaded dump truck left the highway, crashed through the guardrail and rolled over, resulting in his death.

The incident remains under investigation.

No one else was in the dump truck at the time of the accident.

Assisting on the scene were the Bruce Crossing and Trout Creek volunteer fire departments, SONCO Ambulance, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Lac Vieux Desert Tribal Police Department.
