Meth bust in Ewen

EWEN — A joint federal and state law enforcement raid on Monday resulted in the arrest of two people on charges of selling crystal meth.

Officers of the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET), as well as agents from Homeland Security Investigations and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted an investigation in Ewen, that led to the arrest of a 28-year-old woman and 29-year-old man from Ewen.

Both suspects were arrested without incident and taken to Ontonagon County Jail on felony charges related to the sale of crystal meth.

The investigation into the sale of crystal meth remains ongoing, police said, and additional arrests are expected.

Detectives were assisted by personnel from the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department, Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police-Wakefield Post, MSP-Iron Mountain Post and MSP-Calumet Post.

UPSET was also assisted by the Ontonagon County Prosecutor’s Office, which has worked closely with the detectives assigned and provided guidance on their investigations.
