HOUGHTON — Ken Summers was declared the winner of the Democratic primary in the 110th House District with 100 percent of the vote, according to Summers’ campaign manager, Simon Foster.

Summers is seeking to replace Representative Scott Dianda, who has reached his term limit and is running for the 38th District state Senate seat.

While enrolling his son in public school, Summers experienced firsthand the financial situation in which the public school system is. That prompted his decision to run for the seat.

“We are underfunding our kids as well as our teachers who provide such an essential service to our community,” Summers said.

Summers said that together with his team of supporters, he has knocked on over 9,000 doors, and made over 5,000 phone calls to talk to 110th District residents about the issues most important to them.

“I’ve talked to voters across our district and heard so many stories about the struggles their families are still facing,” said Summers. “No family should have to worry about going bankrupt trying to pay for their health care. I’m looking forward to working day in and day out with supporters to make sure families know we are on their side and will continue to fight for them in the Michigan House of Representatives.”

The 110th District includes Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties, as well as Ishpeming and Powell Townships in Marquette County. The general election is November 6th.
