CALUMET — A Calumet female juvenile was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital Saturday afternoon for treatment of a stab wound to her face.

Upon responding to the call, Houghton County sheriff’s deputies arrested 17-year-old Karilyn Mazurowski, who was being held in the Houghton County jail before being arraigned in District Court on Monday.

The injury was not life-threatening, according to a sheriff’s release.

At her arraignment, Mazurowski was charged with felonious assault/assault with a dangerous weapon.

Deputies were dispatched to the apartment complex in the village of Calumet at approximately 4:45 p.m., in response to a report of a woman who had been stabbed.

At the scene, deputies found two juvenile females with two young children, the report states.

One of the females had a large laceration on her face. Upon an investigation, deputies arrested Mazurowski at a nearby residence.

Sgt. Keith Raffaelli of the Sheriff’s Office said the victim was stabbed once in the face with a knife, sustaining a large laceration. He did not have further details.

At Mazurowski’s arraignment on Monday, a personal recognizance bond was set at $500, according to the District Court Clerk.

Her preliminary hearing is set for April 5 at 10 a.m. in 97th District Court in Houghton.
