Crane leaves H-PT board
HOUGHTON — A longtime Houghton-Portage Township Schools board member has left the board.
Trustee Dan Crane, who had spent 15 years on the board, submitted a letter of resignation to the district on June 7.
“For personal reasons I need to focus my time and energy in other areas,” he said in the letter. “It has been a pleasure to serve on this board. I want to thank the board, administration, teachers, and staff for making my time on the board a very enjoyable experience.”
The district is seeking applications to fill the vacancy until the next school election in November 2020. They may run for a full term in that general election.
Applicants have until June 28. They may submit a letter of interest to Superintendent Doreen Kramer, Houghton-Portage Township Schools, 1603 Gundlach Road, Houghton, MI, 49931.
Applicants must be at least 18, a U.S. citizen, a Michigan resident for at least 30 days and a rsident of the school district for at least 30 days before their appointment.
