Hancock man arraigned on child porn charges

HANCOCK — A Hancock man has been arraigned on child pornography charges after a multi-agency investigation.

Michael Schreiber, 34, is alleged to have been downloading and distributing child sexually abusive material at his home since October, the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit said in a release.

Schreiber was arrested Tuesday and arraigned Wednesday in 97th District Court. He faces eight counts: one count of child sexually abusive activity, a 20-year felony; three counts of possessing child sexually abusive material, a four-year felony; three counts of using a computer to commit a crime, a seven-year felony; and one count of surveilling an unclothed person, a two-year felony.

Bond for Schreiber was set at $20,000 cash.

The Computer Crimes Unit’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force collaborated with officers from Michigan Technological University, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office and the Hancock Police Department.
