Online vote for Lake Linden students Thursday

WASHINGTON — Lake Linden-Hubbell High School’s eCYBERMISSION team is looking for help from the public at their upcoming national competition.

The team is up for the People’s Choice award at the web-based competition. Sponosred by the U.S. Army, the competition has students in sixth through ninth grades identify and solve problems in their community through science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) principles.

Lake Linden’s team, the Yooper Lights, developed LED reflectors to put on students’ backpacks to make them more visible to motorists when walking to school. Team members are Jenna Beaudoin, Chloe Daniels, Rebecca Lyons and Olivia Shank.

Voting can be done from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at ecyber19.hscampaigns.com. Clicking on the People’s Choice link at the site will reveal a list of teams, including the Yooper Lights.

People can also view the teams’ presentations to the public at youtu.be/6CSAR2rnKUk.

Awards will be announced at an awards banquet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. The livestream will be at youtu.be/AsqgSnLaisY.
