End O the Road Car Show attracts large numbers

COPPER HARBOR — Keweenaw Cruisers member John Cima promised a spectacular array of antique and vintage vehicles, and even current models on display for the 16th annual End O the Road Car Show, which took place Saturday.

Vehicles ranging from 1920s Fords to 2017 Corvettes lined Copper Harbor’s main street, attracting large crowds who admired the vehicles.

Food and beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic were available for purchase, the procedes of the sales going to Keweenaw Random Acts of Community Kindness (K-RACK). While the Keweenaw Cruisers tended to the organization and hosting the car show, K-RACK handled food and refreshment sales, which kept members busy throughout the five-hour event.

Local band, Reign, performed in the Copper Harbor Improvement Association’s portable band shell, which was set up in the Mariner North parking lot, providing live entertainment.

Local resident, Brian Jedda, who recently purchased his Corvette Stingray, had the vehicle on display in the show.

Graham Jaehnig/Daily Mining Gazette A pristine 1967 Chevy Impala, complete with original interior and upholstery, displayed a sportiness, yet practicality, as well as good looks, qualities lost to vehicles years ago.

“This is my first time attending the show,” Jedda said. “This is the first time I have an actual car to put in it, which is my 1979 Corvette. I’ve owned it for one year; one year today, in fact.”

Jedda said everything on the vehicle is original, exept the owner, and he enjoys driving it, because it handles well.

Jedda said he did not enter the vehicle with any intention of winning a prize, but just for the spirit of entering a car in the show.

“It’s really great to walk around and look at all the other cars, and chat with the owners, and talk with the people who come to see them,” Jedda said.
