Man pleads to child porn charges

EAGLE RIVER — An Eagle Harbor man pleaded guilty to three child pornography-related counts in Keweenaw County Circuit Court Thursday.

Michael Braman, 61, was arrested in July after allegedly possessing more than 100 images of child sexually abusive material, as well as material involving prepubescent children and sadomasochistic abuse or bestiality.

He pleaded guilty to one count of child sexually abusive activity, a 20-year felony; one count of using a computer to commit a crime, a 20-year felony; and one count of possessing child sexually abusive material, a 10-year felony.

Six other felony counts involving the same charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

The arrest stemmed from a Keweenaw Counuty Sheriff’s Office investigation spanning several months assisted by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

A sentencing date had not been set as of Friday. It will occur in approximately four weeks.
