L’ANSE — A Chippewa County drug and forgery suspect was arrested in Baraga County Friday, two months after he cut his tether and fled from law enforcement.

Friday, the Michigan State Police Calumet Post received word Jeremy Marjamaa was traveling on U.S. 41 from the Marquette area towards Calumet, it said in a release. A trooper stopped Marjamaa’s vehicle, assisted by the Baraga County Sheriff’s Office. Marjamaa then fled into the woods. After an eight-hour search involving K-9 officers and multiple agencies, he was found and taken into custody.

Marjamaa was lodged at the Baraga County Sheriff’s Office for resisting arrest and numerous outstanding warrants.

He was originally arrested on charges related to methamphetamines, forging and uttering and publishing, according to the Newberry News. He was allowed to be released on tether.

The Michigan State Police were assisted by the Baraga County Sheriff’s Department, Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police, L’Anse Police Department, Baraga Police Department and the Department of Natural Resources.
