State Police Adds AEDs to Weigh Stations and CVED Patrol Vehicles
LANSING — Michigan State Police (MSP) motor carrier officers will soon have instant access to AEDs, or automatic external defibrillators, while on patrol and assigned to weigh stations statewide with the purchase of 159 new devices.
“This equipment has proved to be lifesaving,” said Capt. Michael Krumm, commander of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. “Prior to this, we only had a handful of devices that were donated to us. Immediate access for all of our motor carrier officers means they will be better prepared should a cardiac emergency arise.”
The AEDs will be distributed throughout September, and all motor carrier officers will also complete refresher training on responding to cardiac emergencies.
