Calumet Post has successful campaign

CALUMET TOWNSHIP — The Michigan State Police Post collected 10,355 pounds of goods in its 2019 “Stuff the Blue Goose” charity event, stated Trooper Kevin Rajala, the community service trooper, in a release.

Troopers from the Calumet Post teamed up with Louie’s Fresh Market in Lake Linden, Pat’s IGA in Calumet, Pat’s IGA in L’Anse, Econo Foods in Houghton, and Larry’s Market in Baraga for the event. The events were conducted in conjunction with the 2019 Michigan Harvesting Campaign, the release states.

The purpose of the event was to raise awareness and provide food to local food pantries. The food collected was distributed to the St. Vincent de Paul in L’Anse, the St. Vincent de Paul in Hancock, Salvation Army in Hancock, and the CLK Food Pantry in Calumet.

The participation, involvement, and donations from the public, and grocery stores, is greatly appreciated, and was a great success, the release states.
