HOUGHTON — This Saturday, the Copper Country Intermediate School District, with assistance from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, will be hosting a rapid testing event at Houghton High School.

The clinic will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school, located at 1603 Gundlach Rd. in Houghton. People are asked to drive into the first entrance near the football field. Signs will be posted.

The tests are free and everyone in the community is invited to register if they wish. To register, individuals are encouraged to go to http://honumg.info/HoughtonHS. There will also be registration going on at the testing site as well. The CCISD reminds those interested to watch for signs for on-site registration.

For the duration of the test, individuals should remain in their vehicle. Once the rapid test has been completed, they will receive their results via phone, email or text within approximately 15 minutes.

If the test comes back negative, no further action will be necessary. Should the test come back positive, individuals are asked to return to the testing site for a more comprehensive COVID-19 test, where results can take 48-72 hours. If you cannot come back to the site, it is recommended that you follow-up with another testing provider.

Those with questions are asked to contact Loret Roberts at 906-231-3813.
