Two arrested on drug charges

L’ANSE — Two L’Anse residents are in jail in Baraga County after separate drug investigations.

On Friday, Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) detectives arrested two unrelated people from Baraga County involved in selling illegal drugs.

After a one-month investigation, detectives from UPSET and troopers from Michigan State Police – Calumet Post arrested a 37-year-old L’Anse man on one count of delivery of methamphetamine, a 20-year felony and habitual offender – fourth offense. During his arrest troopers seized several types of prescription drugs that he was not prescribed, UPSET said in a release.

During a separate one-month investigation, detectives from UPSET and troopers from the MSP-Calumet Post arrested a 39-year-old from L’Anse on one count of delivery of methamphetamine, a 20-year felony and habitual offender- third offense.

Both suspects are lodged at the Baraga County Jail and their names are being withheld pending arraignment in 97th District Court in Baraga County.
