Chase suspect arraigned

HOUGHTON – The suspect in a breaking and entering that led to a high-speed chase Thursday night was arraigned in 97th District Court Friday.

Patrick Shea, 33, of Calumet, was allegedly spotted trying to break into a home on Bootjack Road in Torch Lake Township by a neighboring resident. A Michigan State Police trooper then spotted him and pursued him north to the Gratiot River Road, where Shea’s vehicle got stuck in the snow about two miles in, according to the MSP.

Shea was uncooperative and had to be forcibly removed from the vehicle, the MSP said.

Shea is charged with second-degree home invasion, a 15-year felony; fleeing and eluding – third degree, a five-year felony; and possession of a controlled substance – tramadol, a two-year felony.

Bail was set at $500,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 20.
