Long distance telephone service was cut from Ontonagon to Keweenaw County for a period of time Thursday, according to several reports.

Jay Brogan of the Hiawatha Telephone Company in Munising said in a telephone interview that there was a long distance outage that effected certain carriers as a result of a number of circuits in Chicago having trouble, but his office received fewer than 10 calls from Ontonagon Telephone Company customers regarding the outage.

As of Friday morning, all long distance service was again fully functional.
