Trial set for Houghton biker accused of fleeing

HOUGHTON – The case of a Houghton man accused of fleeing police earlier this year is being set for trial, although work towards a plea agreement is ongoing.

Rudolph Voght, 30, appeared in Houghton County Circuit Court for a pretrial hearing Friday.

Voght is accused of fleeing police on his motorcycle after an attempted stop on Houghton Canal Road in April. He later surrendered to police in Ontonagon.

Voght’s attorney, David Gemignani, said he is is not yet at the point of a resolution. He is looking for video of the incident to determine scoring on Offense Variable 9. That variable looks at the number of victims.

Two days will be set aside on the trial calendar. A pretrial would be set for four weeks before the trial. A date for the trial has yet to be set.
