HOUGHTON — The City of Houghton will usher in the holiday season Friday with the annual Winter Wonderland event. The festive community celebration will take place from 5 – 8 p.m. on the Houghton downtown pier. This annual event will feature a variety of family-friendly activities designed to capture the spirit of the season. Santa Claus will greet children, with a mailbox for letters to the North Pole. Sleigh rides will be offered courtesy of VanElsacker Farms, with support from Visit Keweenaw, co-sponsor of the evening’s festivities.
The Portage Lake District Library will host a holiday craft activity for children and families and beloved “Frozen” characters will be present for meet-and-greet opportunities. There will be complimentary hot cocoa be available to attendees.
Danielle Perkowitz, Houghton’s community and business development manager said Winter Wonderland is a joyful way to kick off the holiday season. “It’s a chance for our community to gather, celebrate, and create memories together.”
