Forsyth Twp. man faces 39 CSC counts

GWINN – Andrew Caron, 43, of Forsyth Township, was arraigned in 96th District Court Wednesday afternoon on 39 counts of felony criminal sexual conduct, following a seven-month investigation by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.

Caron was charged with 10 felony counts of criminal sexual conduct involving penetration and oral sex with a child under 13. Each count carries a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

He was also charged with 29 felony counts of arranging for, producing, making copies, reproducing or financing child sexually abusive material. Each count carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines.

The alleged offenses occurred between 2006 and 2014 in Marquette County.

Caron is being held in the Marquette County Jail on a $3.9 million bond. His preliminary exam is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Dec. 8.

The investigation involving Caron began in May, and a search warrant for his residence was issued in August, Undersheriff Mike Klein said.

The Sheriff’s Office worked with the Forsyth Township Police Department and Michigan State Police Forensic Unit in Traverse City to bring about the charges.

The investigation in ongoing, Klein said, and could lead to more charges.
