Longtime city employee in Houghton retires
HOUGHTON – After 33 years of working for the city of Houghton, Paul Sorlie is retiring. His retirement party was held Friday in the council chambers of the City Hall on Shelden Street, which was well attended.
When he first began working with the city in 1983, Sorlie started as a bookkeeper, he said. He was then deputy clerk, and at the time he announced his retirement, he was the payroll supervisor.
After more than three decades of working for the city of Houghton, Sorlie said he plans to relax a bit, but he will stay busy.
“I might do a little bit of traveling and some volunteer work,” he said.
