Franklin gets new supervisor

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP – Franklin Township Supervisor Glenn Ekdahl chose not to seek reelection this year, and after Tuesday’s general election township residents have a new supervisor.

Current board of trustees member Republican Mary Sears received 396 votes and Roger Sullivan, who ran unaffiliated with a party, received 215 votes.

Sears said she appreciated the confidence the voters gave her.

“It was a tough race,” she said. “I’m just humbled to accept.”

Sears said the board and township residents need to work together for the benefit of all.

“We’re going to work hard to make it a good township.”

For the other Franklin Township positions: Judi Dulong Mikesch received 429 votes, and there were nine write-in votes; for the two available trustee seats Daniel Dulong Jr. received 382 votes and Lawrence Julio received 310 votes. There were 10 write-in votes.
