Little Brothers holding Thanksgiving dinners

HANCOCK — The Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly Thanksgiving dinners will take place in several locations Thursday, but according to Sandy Lewin a few items are still needed.

Lewin, who is development specialist for LBFE, said they still need sparkling cider to simulate champaign, 50 pounds of butter, pineapple juice, brown sugar, and indiviudually-wrapped candies.

Volunteers are still needed for some of the dinner locations, Lewin said. To volunteer, or to find where to bring food donations, call 482-6944.

Although the turkeys for both dinners will be prepared at Michigan Technological University’s kitchen, Carol Korpela, LBFE program director, said much of the rest of the meals will be prepared at the dinner sites, and volunteers are needed at those locations.

“All of our meals are homemade,” she said.

For desserts, Korpela said fruit and pumpkin pies are needed.

“We like all of our desserts to be homemade,” she said.
