HOUGHTON – Many Ontonagon County township board members collected votes Tuesday.

Bergland Township chose Republican Carl D. Bailey over Democrat David Roberts 158 to 130 votes. In the township clerk race, Democrat Pat MacArthur lost to Republican Irene D. Sorelle 127 to 155. Wendy Savola got 218 votes for treasurer. Republican trustee candidates Mark Gregory and Michael Minto got 195 and 166 votes, respectively; and Margaret Maggi Brown got 110.

In Bohemia Township races, Democrats LuAnn Hayrynen got 44 votes for supervisor; Elsie Sulkanen got 43 for clerk; Carrie Erickson got 40 for treasurer; and trustees Theresa Sanford and Florenc D. VanBeek got 40 and 34 respectively.

Carp Lake Township Republican Homer Colclasure got 311 votes for supervisor, Mary Reath got 290 for clerk, Cynthia A. Walworth got 300 for treasurer, and trustees Micah Brown, Tonya Panveno, Kenneth Joseph Wolfe, John A. Piasecki and Richad Deaguero received 183, 136, 131, 78 and 59 votes respectively.

Greenland Township Supervisor Fred Barron earned 289 votes and Corrie L. Kaarto got 306 for clerk. Democrat Incumbent Treasurer Mary Wagner got 311 votes. Trustees Kevin Anttila and Randy Kemppainen got 262 and 286 votes respectively.

Haight Township Democrats Joseph Pietila picked up 81 votes for supervisor, Marilyn M. Sexton got 79 votes for clerk, and trustee candidates Gerald D. Mattson got 76 votes and Rose Holtz got 73. Republican Carlene Humphrey received 70 votes for treasurer.

In Interior Township, Andrew Aho received 135 votes for supervisor, Democrats Mariann Besonen got 142 votes for clerk; and Paul T. Besonen and Patsy L. Walls got 123 and 120 votes respectively for trustee. Republican Melanie Pelkola received 137 votes for treasurer.

Matchwood Township Republican Glen Longtin earned 37 votes for supervisor. Democrats Gerald Kitzman got 47 votes for clerk and Deborah A. Korich got 42 votes for treasurer. Trustee candidates Democrat Audrey Wagner received 40 votes and Republican Lorraine Warsop got 28 votes.

McMillan Township gave Democrats Daniel J. Staff Sr. 225 votes for supervisor; Kate Hirsack 158 votes for clerk; and Kristen Hardes 237 votes for treasurer. Hirsack beat challenger Bobbie N. Koski who had 111 votes. Mike Urbis got 229 votes for trustee and Cory George Korich got 228 votes for constable.

Ontonagon Township Democrats Steven Store got 944 votes for supervisor; Penny L. Saari got 1,018 votes for treasurer; and Brenda Hamm and Charles Maki got 748 and 848 votes respectively for trustee. Republican incumbent Clerk William Chabot got 1,023 votes.

For the Ontonagon Township Park Board, Democrat Robert Burrows received 735 votes while Republicans James R. Miles got 847 votes, Bob Rotundo got 713, Deborah Slye got 718 and Michael White got 719.

In Rockland Township, Democrats Charles A. Pantti got 100 votes for supervisor; and trustee candidates Susan Miilu got 77, and Patricia I. Racine got 59. With no party affiliation, Ryan J. Pantti received 56 votes for trustee. Republicans Peggy S. Killoran got 97 votes for clerk, and Wendy Pence got 97 for treasurer.

Stannard Township Republican William J. Andrus got 306 votes for supervisor. Democrats Pamela Malnar picked up 288 votes for clerk, Diane M. Fry 277 votes for treasurer, and trustee candidates Karen Mayle 199 got votes and Diane Moilanen got 257 votes.
