Incumbents retain seats on Keweenaw County Board

EAGLE RIVER –Keweenaw County residents turned out in near record numbers to cast their votes on a number of issues, including recreational marijuana and state redistricting.

In regards to Proposal 1, legalizing marijuana, the vote across the five townships was 662-650 in favor.

Proposal 2 addressing the redistricting was supported 772-501.

Proposal 3, which addressed the question of voter registration and other election reforms was approved 735-546.

In the Keweenaw County Road Commission race, Richard Olson defeated Kevin Gherna 798-509.

In the race for county commissioner, incumbents Don Piche, Jim Vivian, Del Rajala and Bob DeMarois ran unopposed. Sandra Gayk won a second term against Randy Eckloff, 116-99.

In Allouez Township, Mark Aho ran unopposed for township supervisor, and Marilyn Worm was unopposed as trustee.

In Ahmeek, Michael Maninga, Mark Vichich and Frank Spagnotti won trustee seats.
