Houghton-Keweenaw Conservation District’s 2020 Tree sale canceled

The Houghton Keweenaw Conservation District (HKCD)is very sorry to inform you that HKCD is canceling Tree Sale 2020 due to the spread of Covid-19.

Governor Whitmer issued a “Stay Safe, Stay Home” order directing that all but the most necessary activities outside the home be curtailed. While many of us love Tree Sale, it is not a critical, mandatory activity and so we agree to comply with this State of Michigan directive.

HKCD works with nurseries from several states to procure trees, plants and shrubs for our sale. Right now, Covid-19 has had minimal impact on the Western UP, and HKCD does not want to expedite the spread of the disease by bringing in inventory from areas that are already more impacted.

HKCD is taking this action to protect all of our loyal customers and volunteers and our greater Houghton and Keweenaw Community. We hope by canceling our Tree Sale this year, we will all come through this and be safe, healthy and ready for a great Tree Sale 2021.

If you have already placed an order, HKCD will be contacting you individually. HKCD is very sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

In the meantime, please contact me at 906 370-7248 or HKCD at 906 482-0214 if you have questions.
