Bluesman John Latini and Dave Lorenz to be featured at the 2020 season opening performance of The Red Jacket Jamboree

Host Lena Dorey, the cast of The Red Jacket Jamboree, award-winning Bluesman John Latini, and celebrity performer Dave Lorenz of Pure Michigan, bring you an evening of mystery and suspense during the recording of two spooktacular episodes: “Revenge of the Deer,” and “Phantom of the Mine!” on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.

John Latini has won accolades and awards for his gritty blues and rock tunes packed with humor, gut-wrenching honesty and irony. The Detroit Bluesman has garnered numerous awards including the Metro Detroit Songwriting Grand Prize in 2004 and the Detroit Blues Challenge winner in 2008 and 2009 and recently the grand prize winner of the 2018 Dallas Songwriters Song Contest.

Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, is responsible for leading the state’s tourism branding, advertising and public relations efforts; overseeing the award-wining Pure Michigan tourism campaign and coordinating overall statewide tourism initiatives. In 2018, Dave was named to the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International’s “Top 25 Extraordinary Minds of 2018.” Lorenz also has 14 years’ experience in radio broadcasting in roles varying from announcer and news reporter to numerous management positions. Dave will join the cast for these spooktacular episodes in which Latini, the Copper Cats and Red Jacket Actors collaborate to bring you a memorable evening of music and entertainment.

The Red Jacket Jamboree is a new old-time radio variety show sharing stories, songs and history from Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. The show is performed and recorded in front of a live audience at the historic Calumet Theatre in downtown Calumet. Hosted by Lena Dorey, the show features Martin Achatz, Poet Laureate of the U.P.,the Red Jacket Actors and music by the Copper Cats, with Jerry Younce on guitar, Bill Carrothers on piano, Harry South on bass and Zach Ott on percussion. It’s an educational and entertaining show for the entire family, with students 17 and under given free admission. The audience is asked to be in their seats 5 minutes before the show.

The Red Jacket Jamboree is produced by Real People Media, a nonprofit helping people share their stories through the literary, visual, performing and media arts.
