CCISD board president resigns
The Copper Country Intermediate School District Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday.
The Copper Country ISD Board of Education accepted the resignation of Board President, Robert C. Tuomi, leaving an open seat on the Board. Dr. Nels S. Christopherson has been elected to President with Gale W. Eilola being elected to Vice-President. The CCISD Board will select a replacement at the October meeting.
Special Education Director, Kristina Penfold presented on Welch Allyn OEE Hearing Screeners. The ISD received 3 Welch Allyn OE Hearing Screeners from the MDE this spring. These screeners are used with children ages 0-3 in Early On. The screener is used to detect potential hearing loss and then families would need to see an audiologist. Research has shown that undetected hearing loss leads to delays in speech, language, cognitive and social-emotional development, negatively affecting academic performance.
