D. James (Jim) Messner

BELLEVUE, WASH. – D. James (Jim) Messner passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10th, 2015, at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Washington.

Born on December 13th, 1930 in Calumet, Jim was a graduate of Michigan Tech and a U.S. Army veteran.

He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Paull, on March 21st, 1953 and his engineering career on the Minnesota Iron Range.

He moved to Minneapolis in 1960 to work for Honeywell, relocating with them to San Diego and then to Seattle in 1975.

The Bellevue area has remained his ever since, with a brief stint at Honeywell in Albuquerque in 1993. His Honeywell colleagues were quick to say what a nice man he was, and many became lifelong friends.

Jim (or fondly, “Jam”) was a supportive father of four, always there to lend a hand and dispense sage adive in easily digestible pieces; he was right more often than not.

He loved playing cards, with bridge and poker being his favorites well into retirement.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife of 62 years, Margaret; brother, Bob; children, Don (Karen) Messner, Bob (Mary) Messner, Dave (Susan) Messner, Kristy (Nathan) Kutz; and eight grandchildren.

A gravesite service will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 12 p.m. at The Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choosing.
