Daniel Kontur

MOHAWK – Daniel Kontur, 78, a resident of Mohawk passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at the Omega House in Houghton.

He was born on December 26, 1937, in River Rouge, to Andrew and Anna (Lauka) Kontur.

He attended and graduated from the local schools. Following his high school graduation he earned his Associates Degree.

On December 27, 1958, he married Margaret Curtis in Lincoln Park.

He was a member of the United States Army.

Following his service to the country, Dan began working as a welder repairman for the Ford Motor Company. He retired after working for 30 years.

After retiring from the Ford Motor Company, he and his wife owned and operated the True North Antique Shop in Ahmeek for 12 years, retiring in 2010.

Dan is survived by five sons, David and Ann of Toledo, Ohio, Mike of Toledo, Ohio, Daniel Jr. and Stacy of Newport, Greg and Honeylove of Lambertville and Brad of Dundee; two daughters, Beth (Brad Madison) Kontur of Superior, Wisconsin and Kriste Kontur of Mohawk; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
