David B. Koski

HUBBELL – David B. Koski, 69, of Hubbell, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at UP Health Systems-Marquette.

He was born in Hancock, to the late Bill and Lempi (Moilanen) Koski.

Dave graduated from Dollar Bay High School in 1964. He attended Soumi College for one year and then worked and lived in the Detroit area before moving back to the UP.

In 1968, he married Carolyn Klein. They would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on September 21, 2016.

Throughout his life, he did a variety of work that ranged from working in the mine, to furnace repair, driving a fuel oil tanker truck and hauling milk.

He worked as a truck driver for many years, ran his own business as an owner/operator, hauling lumber for DBK Trucking and most recently, worked at Tony Burcar construction.

Music was a big part of Dave’s life. He began playing guitar when he was 13 years old and got together with his friends forming bands and playing “good old rock-n-roll” in his mother’s kitchen. He was fortunate to maintain life-long friendships getting together to play bass guitar with The Ramrods and Jimmy B. and the Rockatones.

Always resourceful, he defied the odds and lived life on his terms with his “sisu strength” carrying him through to the end.

Whether he realized it or not, he was a guiding light to his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Carrie (Mark) and Cristina of De Pere, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Heppy Koski of Bootjack; brothers-in-law, Ozzie (Jan) Klein and Bob (June) Klein; and numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends, Ron Neber and Paul Keranen.

Preceding him in death were his parents; in-laws; four brothers, Bobby, George, Bill Jr., Paul; two sisters, Noreen Hodges and Barbara Kuehne; and a sister-in-law, Cookie Klein.

Per David’s wishes, no visitation will be held. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.

The Pearce Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
