Jean Ovitz Scott

SPREAD EAGLE – Jean Ovitz Scott, 94, of Spread Eagle, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at ManorCare Health Services.

She was born on May 3, 1922, in Laona, Wisconsin, daughter of Dr. Ernest G. and Annabel Brooks Ovitz.

She was graduated from Kemper Hall, Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1941 and attended Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. Jean was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.

She was a registered radiology technician at the University of Chicago Hospitals and the Green Bay Clinic. She later became a home advisor for the Wisconsin Public Service Corporation in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

Jean married Jerrold Scott on November 29, 1956, in Silver Lake, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1998, in Rochester, Minnesota.

She was a past member of the Hospital League, Tuesday Study Club, the Chippewa Club and Pine Grove Country Club.

She loved the out-of-doors and all God’s creatures. She especially enjoyed golf, sailing a cat boat, skiing, camping, fly fishing, small game and duck hunting and traveling. Indoor hobbies included knitting, braiding rugs, reading and working crossword puzzles.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marilynn (Dewaine) Wall; and a brother, Bud (Becky) Ovitz.

She is survived by a son, Michael (Connie) of Houghton; a daughter, Sarah Kropp Hall; two grandsons, Scott and Bryan Kropp of Jarrettsville, Maryland; nieces, Margaret and Valerie Wall of Seattle, Washington and Charlotte Kennaugh of Oro Valley, Arizona; and nephews, Ernie, Jonathan Wall and John Ovitz.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Florence County Rescue Squad.
