Mary Lou Lamain

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Mary Lou Lamain, 71, of Burnsville, passed into the loving arms of Our Lord on September 17, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Louella Wood.

Mary Lou grew up in West St. Paul. She attended Sibley High School and then transferred to Shattuck St. Mary’s in Faribault, where she graduated.

She received her bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Minnesota and her master’s degree in speech therapy from St. Cloud.

Her work life was wildly varied. She began as a recruiter at Shattuck St. Mary’s and then Suomi College in Hancock.

She would later manage radio stations, own a property management company, be a marketing manager at a casino, an insurance sales person, she owned her own Workers Rehabilitation Company and was a financial manager for a law firm.

While doing all of this, she maintained a spiritual life and was active in every community she settled in, served on boards at church, at Shattuck St. Mary’s and on the YMCA Camp Widjiwagan. She had the uncanny ability to cultivate a family of friends everywhere she went.

Mary Lou is survived by her cousins, other family members and the many, many life long and new friends that were privileged to share her brilliant light.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of Nativity, 15601 Maple Island Rd, Burnsville, MN, 55306, with a gathering one hour prior to the service at church. Private interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to the Church, Shattuck-Saint Mary’s School, and YMCA.
