Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Senia Wollan

DOLLAR BAY — Kathleen “Kathy” Senia Wollan, 67, of Dollar Bay, died Sunday, November 20, 2016, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where she had been a patient for the past week.

She was born March 8, 1949, in Lincoln Park, the daughter of the late Reuben and Senia (Somero) Aho.

Kathy was a 1967 graduate of Dollar Bay High School and attended Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech.

In 1969, Kathy was married to James A. Wollan. The couple raised two children, Kristin and Joshua, before parting ways.

Her family moved to Colorado for seven years returning to the Copper Country in 1990.

Kathy was previously employed as a secretary for the Inter-Lutheran Seminary, was Treasurer for Osceola Township and she worked for Michigan Tech as an administrative assistant, recently retiring.

She was employed for many years at the Portage Lake Water and Sewage Authority, where she worked until passing.

Kathy enjoyed music, traveling and her Pinochle club. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She loved and cared for so many in her lifetime.

Her family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Portage Health and Houghton County Medical Care Facility, where she was cared for with compassion and kindness.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Kristin Lortie (Michael Bailey) of Cocoa, Florida; her son, Joshua (Alicia) Wollan of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Rodney (Julie) Aho of Traprock Valley, Dale Aho of Farmington Hills and Glen Aho of Dollar Bay; and two sisters, Sharon (Mike) Jurmu of Dollar Bay and  Karen (Joe) Magri of Charlottesville, Virginia; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be at the Jukuri-Antila Funeral Home in Hancock on Friday, November 25, 2016, starting at 4 p.m. There will be a time of sharing and remembrance at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock, visitation will be form 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. with the memorial service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jesse Aho to officiate.
