Elizabeth Catherine Alatalo

BARAGA – Elizabeth Catherine Alatalo, 87, of Baraga, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017, at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.

She was born on December 9, 1929, in Baraga, the daughter to Joseph and Eliza (Foucault) Vizina. Elizabeth graduated from Baraga High School in 1947.

She married Arvi Alatalo on July 16, 1949, in Baraga.

Elizabeth was a member of St. Ann Church in Baraga.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing pinochle, cooking and baking. She greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Karen (David) Gustafson of Midland, Bob (Brenda) Alatalo of Baraga, Fred (Susie) Alatalo of Mason; sister, Marcella Fahlgren of Holly; four grandchildren, Ryan and Sara Gustafson, Christopher and Jessica Alatalo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Arvi; and brother, Lawrence Vizina.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 30, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Deacon John Cadeau will lead parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at St. Ann Church in Baraga with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating.

Burial will be in the spring in the Baraga Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to St. Ann Church.

The Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
