Grace Mary Langen

GRAND RAPIDS – Grace Mary (Galetto) Langen, is now at peace and with her heavenly Father. Her mind is restored and renewed, her joy is complete.

Grace was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula town of Laurium on January 23, 1928. She died in Ann Arbor on January 7, 2017, just shy of her 89th birthday.

She received her B.S. from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Hancock in 1950.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Rose Galetto; brothers, Wilbert and James; and sisters, Mary Cowan and June Galetto.

She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 65 years, George Edward Langen; sisters, Betty Katakowski, Joyce Trione; and sisters-in-law’s, Pat Galetto and Dorothy Jaaskelainen. Grace was the matrarch of the large Langen clan and was a wonderful caregiver to her family and friends. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children and grandchildren, Robert, Sharon (Kirk) Profit, William (Sue) Langen, Janet (Don) Boos, Thomas (Jill) Langen, Mark; and her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristine, Kirk Kelly, Laura, Zachary, Brittany, Thomas Chelsea, Robert, Erick and “GG”; and to her 11 great-grandchildren.

Grace was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

The family will be having a private memorial service.

A celebration of life, will be held this summer at Rabbit Bay on the shores of Lake Superior.
