Larry Joseph Rheault

BOOTJACK – Larry Joseph Rheault, 69, of Bootjack, passed away at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium, on January 3, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born April 21, 1947, a son of Oliver and Marie (Gagnon) Rheault. He attended grade school at Saint Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1965.

Larry joined the Naval Reserves at the age of 17. He was in active duty in the Navy from 1966 to 1968, serving aboard the U.S.S. Thuban.

He worked at the Vulcan Corporation in Ripley, Jilbert’s Dairy and at Michigan Technological University for 32 years until he retired in 2010.

He was married to Sandra Crouch on June 27, 1970.

Larry was a member of the Rheault, Cavis, Moilanen Post 291 American Legion.

He enjoyed gardening and going to football games. He liked boating around the area.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; two sons, Craig and Curt (Jamie) Rheault of Lake Linden; two  step-grandchildren, Pelli and Bodie; a sister, Shirley Perreault; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lennet (Dave) Piippo, Debra Beiring, Drew (Amee) Crouch, John (Paula) Crouch, Randy (Kathy) Crouch, Cheryl Stevens (Pete), Chris (Nancy) Crouch, JoAnne (Fred) Testa; aunts, Jean Parker, Claire Troolines; uncle, Reuben (Margaret) Rheault; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Saint Joseph Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 6, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with an American Legion service at 7 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden.

Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery.
