Patricia Ann “Patsy” Arens

HANCOCK – Patricia Ann “Patsy” Arens, 86, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2017, following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.

Patsy was born on January 26, 1930, to Wilfred and Veronica (Perreault) Poisson of Hubbell. She was one of ten children.

Patsy attended St. Cecilia School and Lake Linden-Hubbell High School, graduating in 1947.

She worked for Pearce Hardware and the Pearce Funeral Home of Lake Linden.

On November 3, 1951, Patsy married Daniel Arens of Hancock.

They made their home in Hancock and raised eight children, later moving to the Hancock Canal area.

Together they owned Arens Fuel of West Hancock for over 50 years.

Patsy was a member of the Church of the Resurrection of Hancock. She always put others ahead of herself and loved being a mom. She was a cancer survivor of over 25 years.

She is survived by her children, Margie (Chuck) Etapa of Ontonagon, Charlotte (the late Tom) Greenlees of Hancock, Donna Arens of Dollar Bay, Dr. Susan Arens of Haslett, Robert (Deb) Arens of Hancock, Joseph (Carolyn) Arens of Atlantic Mine, Mary (David) Lindahl of Anoka, Minnesota and Carol Arens (Chris Hove) of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; twenty-two grandchildren, Bryan (Melissa), Jeff (Jen), Christina, Angela, Nikki (Audrey), Danielle (Ben), Jacob, Sara (Brian), Christi (Chad), Amanda (Dane), Bill (Lisa), Jessie, Jon (Tara), Tony, Randy, Anna, Jayme, Brianna, Adrienne, Isaac, Giles and Jackie; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Patsy thought the world of her children, grandchildren and families for all of their accomplishments. Her great-grandchildren brought her many special joys.

She is also survived by her sisters, Bernadette Genovesi, Dolores Bastian and Toni Bastian;  and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny; her parents, brothers, Herman (in the Korean War), Joe, Bob, Jerome and Francis (who died a day after her death); and a sister, Marie Stevens.

Patsy’s family extends a sincere thank you to the great staff at the Lighthouse of Hancock for their compassionate care. Also, thanks to Dr. DeWald, Dr Liston, Joan Suits and Aspirus Home Health.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017, at the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. Corbin Eddy and Rev. Fr. William Ssozi to con-celebrate. Spring burial will be at the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.

Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017, before the mass.

Arrangements are being handled by the O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home of Hancock.
