John “Jack” Dudley

LAURIUM – John “Jack” Dudley, 90, a resident of Laurium, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017, at his home.

He was born on August 31, 1926, in Lake Linden, to John S. and Beatrice (Vine) Dudley.

Jack attended Lake Linden High School, graduating with the Class of 1944.

Following high school, Jack enlisted with the United States Army. He served his country for 32 years, having served in World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Jack enjoyed spending time with his family. Together he and his wife, Jean, enjoyed traveling. They enjoyed going on rides through the Keweenaw and spending time at their camp on Portage Lake.

On October 15, 1977, Jack married Jean (Hodges) Richards in Iron Mountain.

He was a member of the William Giroux American Legion Post 90 in Lake Linden and the Calumet V.F.W. Post No. 3900.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, John S. and Beatrice Dudley; sister, Evelyn Jacobs; brother-in-law, John Jacobs; and a granddaughter, Jennifer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean of Laurium; son, Jim (Doncie) Richards of Lake Linden; daughters, Beatrice (Larry) Gonzalez of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Marion (Howard) Baulanger of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Monday, February 6, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, at 5 p.m. with Pastor Peter Vorhes to officiate.

Burial with Military Honors will take place in the spring at the Lake View Cemetery.
