Barbara (Burkman) Patterson

She is survived by three children, Robert (Shannon) Patterson of Calgary, Alberta; Nancy Cameron of Langley, British Columbia; Jason (May) Patterson of North Vancouver, British Columbia; and seven grandchildren.

She was born May 5, 1941, a daughter of the late Paul and Leona Burkman. She grew up in Stanton Township, but moved to Canada after marrying Alan Patterson.

She is survived locally by her sisters, Sandra Cooney and Debra (Rod) Guilbault of Houghton; sister-in-law, Margaret Burkman of South Range; uncles, Doug (Anne) Morin of South Range, Peter Sandretto of Hancock, Hubert Marchand of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and their families; a brother, Paul Burkman Jr. of South Range and her brother-in-law, Dan Cooney, of Houghton, preceded her in death.

Barb visited the Copper Country often, especially in the fall when leaves were in full color. She came to visit her family and to visit the Keweenaw. She loved the Houghton Breakers, the Arboreal Tunnel, the sounds and smells of Lake Superior, pasties, nissua, Mom’s homemade bread and a good cup of coffee.

A celebration of Barb’s life was held in Langley. She will be buried in Oskar Cemetery.
