Marilyn Ann Ross

CHASSELL – Marilyn Ann Ross, 67, went to heaven on the morning of February 9th, 2017, in Arizona, with her family by her side. She was born in Gary, Indiana, on May 31, 1949.

While on vacation with her family at Sunrise Cabins in Houghton, she ended up meeting her love, Christopher Ross. Eventually, her parents, Raymond and Louise Farabaugh, retired, moved and bought those same cabins. In the beginning, Chris and Marilyn made their home in the little town of Mass City, where they raised four children: Michael Ross, Karen (Dan) Valentine, Susan (Luke) Anderson, and Peter (Jessica) Ross.

After a time, Chris and Marilyn became the owners of Sunrise Cabins and ran the business for 27 years.

She was a hard-working mother, genuine friend to many, and a wonderful wife of 47 years.

She loved being a Nana to her five grandchildren, Jack, Seth, Nate and Paige Valentine of Houghton and Liam Ross of Brighton, Michigan. She spoiled and spent countless hours reading, singing, playing and caring for them.

Marilyn had a passion for creating. Whether it was quilting, painting, gardening, basket weaving, flower arranging, decorating, she was very talented and made it look effortless every time. Along with her creativity, she enjoyed playing the guitar and hosting gatherings for her friends. She was genuine, kind, compassionate, often times the voice of reason, and cared for others.

She enjoyed annual vacations to Ocean Point, Maine, as well as their four month “snowbird” stays in Tucson, Arizona, the past ten years.

She was a devout Catholic. She loved to sing and was part of the choir at St. Anne’s church in Chassell. In addition to being in the choir, she decorated the church for a number of years as well.

She is survived by her husband; four children; her brothers and sisters, Michael (Judy) Farabaugh, Cecilia (Gary) Patterson, Greg (Joanne) Farabaugh and Mary (DeAnn) Farabaugh; and her childhood friend, Mary Ann Huwig.

She will be deeply missed by her family, her grandchildren, her siblings, nieces, nephews, friends, and all those who she made part of her “extended” family.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne’s church in Chassell on June 10, 2017, at 11 a.m. to celebrate the wonderful life she lived.
