Ross A. Seppala

LAKE LINDEN – Ross A. Seppala, 49, of New Franken, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2017, after fighting a long battle with dystonia.

He was born January 25, 1968, in Laurium, a son of Darlene (Rheault) Hughes and Bill Seppala.

Ross graduated from the Lake Linden-Hubbell High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Marines and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Milan, Philippines. He was honorably discharged in June of 1991.

After serving in the marines, he aspired to be a lineman like his father and attended Alpena Community College, where he earned a certificate in that field of work in 1993.

He spent a short time after that in Lower Michigan working in the swimming pool business with his close friends from high school.

He then moved to Wisconsin and worked as a lineman for Phoenix cable systems. A short time after, he moved to Green Bay and took a position at Baycom Communications for 17 years. While working there, he moonlighted as tower climber, often repairing towers up to 300 feet high.

Ross worked very hard and took great pride in everything he did, from his time in the Marines, throughout his working career, and his many talents as a carpenter, landscaper, and interior design.

Ross was very close the last several years with his girlfriend, Karrie Schultz, from Gillett, Wisconsin, and the dog, Roxy, whom he loved dearly.

He always enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his friends in the Green Bay area. He enjoyed being near the water, especially at the beach with his best friend, Karrie, or with his family and friends in Bootjack. In his younger days, he often hosted parties at his family’s hunting camp in Bootjack, where there was never a dull moment.

Ross touched many people’s lives in so many positive ways. He had a great sense of humor and often told jokes that made everyone around him laugh. He greeted everyone with a smile and hug.

Ross is survived by his mother, Darlene Hughes of Green Bay; father, Bill Seppala of Lake Linden; brother, Dean Seppala; sister in law, Julie Seppala of Lake Linden; sister, Maggie Seppala of Calumet; brother, Matt Seppala of Calumet; niece, Holly (Seppala) Ahnen of Charleston, South Carolina; nephew, Eric Seppala of Lake Linden; niece, Erin Seppala of Lake Linden; one great nephew; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and also his special friend, Karrie Schultz, and his dog, Roxy.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Tim Hughes; and his nephew, Sean Seppala.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with a prayer service at 2 p.m.
