John Daniel Anderson

SAGINAW — John Daniel Anderson, 70, of Saginaw, formerly of Ontonagon, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

The son of Wendell “Swede” and Josephine Anderson, John was born on April 2, 1947, in Ontonagon.

John was a man passionate about life, his family, friends, travel, culture, history, his Scandinavian ancestry, his Upper Peninsula roots, his engineering accomplishments in Asia, education, creating beautiful woodwork, storytelling, and much more. He was an extraordinary man, husband, father and grandfather, he loved unconditionally and gave everything of himself to others.

John will be deeply and forever missed by his family and friends.

He was a graduate of Michigan Technological University, receiving dual bachelor degrees in metallurgical engineering and engineering administration, along with an MBA from Central Michigan University. He also received an honorary doctorate from Shanghai University. For more than 30 years, he was an adjunct professor in the business school at Saginaw Valley State University, where he positively impacted many students.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn “Evie” Anderson; his loving children, Melanie Anderson Lundberg and Bryan Anderson; their spouses, Joakim and Corie; his adored grandchildren, Elsa, Henrik and Stellan; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Charlene.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018, from 1 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 4 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602.
