Marilyn Mae Sirard

BARAGA — Marilyn Mae Sirard, 56, of Baraga, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born October 2, 1961, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, daughter of Jackie and Margie (Higginbothan) McCalister.

Marilyn married Gene Sirard on February 9, 1979, in Craig, Colorado, where they resided prior to moving to Oklahoma City. They moved to Baraga in 1989, and just as they were partners in life, they owned and operated Sirard’s Superior Hair Design for 10 years. When they were ready for their next adventure they started King’s Transport Company.

Marilyn loved the outdoors, motorcycling, dancing, cooking, music and walking her two dogs, Ranger and Yogi. She appreciated nature and life on the farm, but she was most grateful to have found a soulmate in Gene; her daughter, Melissa; and grandson, Mason.

Marilyn will forever be remembered for her unwavering devotion to God and her infectious smile and laughter.

Surviving are her husband, Gene Sirard of Baraga; daughter, Melissa Mae Sirard of Rockford, Illinois; step-son, Cory (Lindsey) Zierden of Elk River, Minnesota; grandchildren, Mason, Tanner, Sydney, Alix and expecting granddaughter, Paisley Marilyn Grace; mother, Margie McCalister of Cleveland, Tennessee; brothers, Lonnie McCalister of Cleveland, Tennessee, Curtis McCalister of Oklahoma City; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Aldrick Sirard of L’Anse; sister-in-law’s, Lou (Steve) Sirard of Darnestown, Maryland, Gayle (Dave) Sirard of New York City, Allison (Dan) Casey of Arnold, Maryland; brother-in-law, Mike (Joanne) Sirard of Duluth, Minnesota.

Preceding her in death is her father.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home, with Pastor Paddy Palomaki officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the spring in the Baraga Cemetery.
