Charlotte A. Olive

ANN ARBOR — Charlotte Ann (Coon) Olive, 81, formerly of Hancock and Ripley, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018, in Ann Arbor. She died of Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS).

Charlotte was born on March 10, 1936, in Hancock, to the late Charles and Ethel (Tucker) Coon.

She was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She was a stay at home mother of five children. Once her children left home, she worked as a medical file clerk at the University of Michigan Hospital for ten years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Olive in 2014; her daughter, Renee Suzanne (Olive) Rothman in 2006; her brothers and sisters, Barbara (Coon) Finch, Donald Coon, Janet (Coon) Eddleman and David Coon.

She is survived by her children, Cathy (Patrick) Dicks, Neil Olive, Patti Weaks and Monica (Garry) Billick; her grandchildren, Robert (Katie) Olive, Jarrod Olive, Jeremy Weaks, Ashlen Olive, Tyler Billick, Savannah Billick and Kaitlyn Billick; her brothers and sisters, Balnche Erickson, Frank (Idella) Coon, Dorothy Carle, Ralph Coon, Paul Coon, Ethel Cartter, Donna (Terry) Whitesall, Virginia (Kelly) Pinten, Howard (Sharon) Coon and Shirley (Jake) Skewes; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Theron Dobson, the ALS Clinic at the U of M, Angela Hospice and many friends and family for their help and support.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock in the spring with interment at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

The O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home of Hancock is assisting her family with local arrangements.
