Mary M. Marino

DODGEVILLE — Mary M. Marino, 88, a former resident of Dodgeville, passed away Saturday evening, July 14, 2018, at The Lighthouse at Hancock Health & Rehab, where she had been a resident patient for the past nine years.

She was born on May 10, 1930, in Hancock, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Fak) Gerich.

Mary was raised in Dodgeville, and attended the Isle Royale and Houghton Schools.

On February 17, 1947, she was united in marriage to Tony Marino. The couple resided in Dodgeville, where they raised their family.

On January 13, 2006, Tony preceded Mary in death. Also preceding her in death were her sister, Ann Koupus; brothers, Tony, John and Charles Gerich.

Mary was a loving mother and grandmother, and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of South Range and FOE Aerie #1122 of South Range.

Mary worked for 30 years as a Nurse’s Aide at Portage View Hospital, mostly in the nursery. She had also done some private duty nursing.

Mary loved to spend time with her family, and they always looked forward to her cooking and baking for them. She also enjoyed going on trips with the girls she had worked with.

Surviving are her children, Sandra Kobe of Calumet, Pat (Wilbert) Mattson of Superior Location, John (Carol) Marino of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Jean (Mike Guy) Marino of Mohawk; nine grandchildren, Gery (Mitch) Mattson, James Stetter, Penny (Bill) Lanhala, Lori Nordstrom, Paul (Diane) Mattson, Joseph Mattson, Jill (Tom) McKindley and Alex and Jacob Marino; eight great- grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Anita Gerich of Dodgeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to officiate.

Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.

Friends may call on Friday, July 20, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyala Catholic Church of Houghton.
